Byron Station Units 1 and 2 Security Screening Allegation NRC Docket Nos. 50-454 and 50-455 Reference (a): October 20, 1987 letter from J. A. Hind to Cordell Reed
Dear Mr. Davis:
Reference (a) requested Commonwealth Edison to re-examine an allegation pertaining to inadequate security screening documentation for some contractor personnel who worked at Byron Station. Reference (a) contained I
additional information concerning the allegatien which was not known to Commonwealth Edison at the time our initial investigation was conducted.
The enclosure of this letter documents our review of the new information presented in reference (a) and also includes the reasons we believe the contractor's security screening documentation was inadequate.
Based on our review, we have not been able to substantiate the new information presented in reference (a). We believe the discussion of this allegation in NRC Inspection Report Nos. 50-454/87-029; 50-455/87-027 is still correct and this allegation should remain closed. The contractor who is the subject of this allegation still does not have a background screening program which is acceptable to Commonwealth Edison.
The enclosure of this letter contains information which is exempt f rom public disclosure according to 10 CFR 2.~190(a)(?).
