MA0496 AND MA0497)

Dear Mr. Cottle:

4 The focus of GL 97-05 was to verify that licensee steam generator tube inspection practices were consistent with existing regulatory requirements and plant licensing basis.- STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) responded to GL 97-05 on March 17,1998. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed its review of STPNOC's response.

STPNOC's response included a description and technical basis for all inspection techniques 1

used to size the depth of steam generator tube degradation at STP, The staff's review of this response did not identify any concerns with the steam generator tube inspection techniques j

. employed at STP that would indicate that STPNOC is not in compliance with the current
