l REGISTRY OF RADIOACTIVE SEALED SOURCES AND DEVICES SAFETY EVALUATION OF SEALED SOURCE SEP 14ISH NO.: NR-300-S-837-S DATE: p3gy 7 op 3 SOURCE TYPE: Radiography Source 1 DESCRIPTIQUI The PTL-1 capsule consists of Iridium-192 or Cobalt-60 metallic pellets contained in a singly encapsulated aluminum 2011 or stainless steel 304 enclosure. The capsule is 0.390" (9.9 mm) long x 0.375" (9.5 mm) diameter. The capsule mouth is sealed by insertion of a 0.130" (3.3 mm) long x 0.195" (4. 95 mm) diameter plug and heliarc welded to the main capsule body. The outside of the capsule is threaded for insertion into a 3/8-16 NC tapped hole. LABELING: 1 The source is not tagged directly, but the devices are externally labeled. 4 OUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL: The sources are hot water bubble tested and wipe tested prior to ] storage and tested again before shipment. I \\ LIMITATIONS AND/OR OTHER CONSIDERATIONS OF USE1 i ) The source is to be used principally in Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory Model 100, or Gamma Industries, Inc., Pipeliner Model 1, exposure devices for radiography, although it may be used in other pipeliner or panoramic exposure devices. 50 curies (1,85 TBq) of Iridium-192 for use in PTL Model 100. i l

Therefore, the registration certificate is being converted-to an inactive' registration ~ certificate. l The source was originally. approved for licensing purposes by the Louisiana Division of Radiation Control. NRC attempted to obtain copies _of all_information submitted by the registrant in' support of the evaluation. However,-NRC could not locate all the .information.
