LPB-98-9. May 13.1998 The Commission approved a Memorandum and Order taking sua soonte review of LPB-98-9 in order to provide immediate Commission guidance in an area of concem found admissible by the Presiding Officer. The area of concem, " failure to obtain proper permits from the Navajo nation,"
would involve the Commission in determining whether Hydro is required to obtain a permit from another regulatory body before Hydro begins mining operations. Because this matter is clearly the responsibility of the Navajo nation, the Commission has acted to reverse the Presiding Officer's determination to admit this area of concem.
(Subsequently, on September 15,1998, the Secretary signed the Memorandum and Order.)
JL SECY-98-212 -- Proooted Order Referrina Petition to Intervene in Oconee License Renewal Proceedina to Atomic Safety and Licensina Board The Commission approved an order responding to a petition from three individuals who are members of the Chattooga River Watershed Coalition to intervene in the Oconee License Renewal proceeding. The order refers the petition to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel for appropriate action and provides guidance for the conduct of the proceeding if a hearing is granted.
