The B&W Fuel Company, Commercial Nuclear Fuel Plant, has been granted a temporary shutdown amendment (Reference
- 1) to accommodate reduced work levels this summer.
The conditions of the amendment require advance written notice of renewed activities be sent to the NRC Fuel Cycle Safety Branch and to NRC Region II.
This letter is written to provide the required advance notice that licensed activi-ties will be restarted effective Monday, August 15, 1988.
The CNFP will be initiating fuel downloading activi-ties on the 15th which will involve the handling of unclad SNM.
In addition, testing of intact fuel assemblies will be started on that date.
Licensed activities will be con-tinued throughout the remainder of the specified shutdown period.
All procedures and systems necessary for nuclear and radiological safety, as required by SNM-1168, will be permanently reactivated on August 15, 1988.
