The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:

STEAM GENERATOR PRIMARY TO SECONDARY TUBE LEAKAGE Wisconsin Electric Power Company reported that on June 24, 1977, at approximately 11:00 a.'m., the primary to secondary leakage in the "B"

steam generator had increased to about 200 gallons per d,ay (gpd). Based i on a twofold increase in leak rate within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />, the licensee decided to shut the reactor down to repair the leak. Technical Specifications l require a shutdown when the leakage rate exceeds 500 gallons per day.

The leakage had steadily increased since the plant returned to power on
s June 21, 1977, following a shutdown for the purpose of repairing a P>

! reactor coolant steam leak (reference PNO-77-108).

The licensee estimates the plant will return to powe'r by June 28, 1977.

There has been no unplanned release of radfoactivity associated with the leakage. -

C The State of Wisconsin was informed of this matter. This preliminary

! notification is issued because steam generator leaks have received special interest in the past.
