Trojan Plant Shutdown to Repair Pipe Crack in Emergency Core Cooling System i
On September 23, 1977, the Trojan plant was shut down from 100% power
~ to repair a circumferential crack in the four (4) inch stainless steel common header line to the charging pumps near the suction line to the positive displacement pump. This line~is under a normal operating pressure of approximately 30 psig.
The crack is approximately one (1) inch in length in the base metal.
- The leakage rate was approximately10-12 gallons per hour.
RegionV(SanFrancisco)inspectorsweredispatchedtothesiteon September 24, 1977 to evaluate-the circumstances.
It is expected that....
-l repairs will require the plant to be shutdown approximately 3 or 4 days.
