A Dow Chemical Company tecidental chlorine gas release occurred
) on Friday October 7,1977, which caused the evacuation of several neighboring township's population. However, contrary to some published stories, the Midland construction site was neither evacuated nor work halted. .,
By midafternoon the situation had returned to normal.
Region III received notification of this occurrence by telephone from p the Site QA Super'intendent at 1:30 p.m., October 7,1977.
