Sybject: UNPLANNED FACILITY SHUTDOWN The unit was shutdown from 96 percent power at 7:02.a.m., June 29, 1977, due to indications of gas in the main output transformer's oil cooling system. The shutdown will last for a minimum of four days to investigate !
the cause of the problem. Adverse findings could lead to an extended shutdown exceeding one month. There are no nuclear safety issues involved in this shutdown.
I Media interest is expected because of close attention given to operating i problems at Millstone Point facilities. The State of Connecticut has been informed. A press release is being considered by the licensee.
