STRIKE 3~.
Local 497 6f the Utility Workers of America went on strike and established a picket line at Maine Yankee at 9:30 a.m., September 10, 1977. Striking union workers include facility licensed operators, mechanics, elect ~ricians, instrument technicians, and health physics personnel.
The Security Force is not affected.
A Region I Inspector at the facility reports that conditions are calm and orderly.
The unit is at 100 percent power and is being operated by facility supervisors and engineering personnel.
Sufficient licensed operators and other personnel are assigned to conduct facility operations.
There are no estimates of how long the strike will last. A Federal Mediator has been involved in the negotiations, but the latest company offer was_.

The State of Maine has been informed. A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
There has been local newspaper coverage of the strike.
NRC, Region I, (Philadc1phia) received notification of this occurrence by 0
telephone from the Plant Superintendent at 11:00 a.m., September 10, 1977.
