This areliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSI BLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or ev'luation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
HIGH FILM BADGE READING An employee of the subject licensee installs 0.5 curies krypton-85 sources in gauges at commercial firms in the State of Maine under the general license contained in 10 CFR 31.6. A recent film badge for this employee indicated a 226 rems beta exposure (skin) and an 8 rems gamma exposure (whole b~ody).
Preliminary evaluation by Region I indicates that it is unlikely that the individual actually received these doses.
Region I is investigating this matter with the coopera-tion of the State of Georgia.
Media interest is not expected.- The States of Georgia and Maine have been informed. A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
