Gentlemen:
In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.71(e), Commonwealth Edison hereby submits Revision 6 to the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) for our Quad Citios Station. Units 1 and 2 have a common FSAR and, therefore, this revision contains information for both units. Commonwealth Edison sought and verbally received a thirty (30) day extension on this submittal from Mr. T. Ross, NRR, QC Licensing Project Manager.
It was agreed the Quad Cities UFSAR would be submitted by July 31, 1988.
The UFSAR has been prepared in accordance with guidance approved by the May 9, 1980, Federal Regit:ter Notice and Reference (a).
Consistent with that guidance, this update has been prepared in the original FSAR format with the original level of detail. No attempt has been made to revise the format or content to conform with the recommendations contained in Regulatory Guide 1.70.
Commonwealth Edison has made every effort to identify all relevant information for this revision including modifications to the facility as described in the UFSAR that have been made since the last submittal (Reference (b)).
In our judgment, the UFSAR accurately reflects the as-built condition of the plant as of January 1, 1988. All changes requiring NRC approval have been reviewed by the NRC and all others have safety evaluations on site to document the station's determination that prior approval was not required.
