Special Inspection No.88-071 On March 17, 1988, Messrs. John Miller and Selvan Rajendran of this office r
conducted a safety inspection at the above address of activities permitted by the general license as authorized by 10 CFR 31.5.
The inspection was limited to a revir.w of your possession and use of static eliminators enanufactured by the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M) and to perform an independent survey to verify and validate the effectiveness of your surveys and decontamina-tion efforts. The findings of the inspection were discussed with you at the conclusion of the inspection, Floor and surface areas in Buildir.g 9, which houses the Cozolli Bottle Washing unit, were surveyed using a Ludium Model 61 air proportional counter and a Ludlum gas proportional ficor monitor.
Two areas of contamination were identi-fled with the floor monitor, Both areas were decontaminated with tape, and the tape was treated as radioactive waste and disposed. No additional contamination l
was found nor were any additional radiation levels measured in excess of the i
background radiation levels.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were identified.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice", Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the Public Document Room.
