i AND UNANTICIPATED PROCESSES AND EVENTS On February 29, 1988, the Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) published a notice 4 of availability for coment of the Draft Generic Technical Position on "Guidance for Determination of Anticipated Processes and Events and Unanticipated Processes and Events." Th1:; document is intended to provide guidance on the implementation of the NRC's regulations.under the Nuclear Waste Policy Act and may be the subject of specific rulemaking by the NRC in the near future.
Although the coment period expired April 29, 1988, to date the NRC has received no coments from your agency.
Inasmuch as your agency has functional responsibility and/or special expertise that is pertinent to the content of the above referenced document, the NRC considers that your coments are important in developing this position.
We have, therefore, enclosed a copy of the abov2 document and request that your agency provide appropriate coments by September 15, 1988.
