JULY 1988 On July 1, 1988, V. C. Summer Nuclear Station, Unit 1, was operating at approximately 100 percent power.
On July 5 at 1130 hours0.0131 days
0.314 hours
0.00187 weeks
4.29965e-4 months
, power was temporarily reduced to about 40 percent to allow repair of the Reactor Coolant Orain Tank pump.
On July 26 at 0924 hours0.0107 days
0.257 hours
0.00153 weeks
3.51582e-4 months
, the rea: tor tripped during testing of the reactor trip breaker. A similar event occurred on June 1, 1988. An equipment problem associated with the "B" reactor trip breaker main control board switch has been determined to be the root cause of both events; however, the July 26 trip occurred because corrective actions implemented as an interim solution to the permanent equioment fix were not fully utilized.
On July 28 at 0124 hours0.00144 days
0.0344 hours
2.050265e-4 weeks
4.7182e-5 months
, the plant was critical and the generator was placed on line at 0915 hours0.0106 days
0.254 hours
0.00151 weeks
3.481575e-4 months
.
The plant ran at approximately 100 percent power for the remainder of July 1988.
