Gentlemen:

On January 11, 1988, we informed you via our report logged TXX-88070 of a reportable deficiency involving battery charger overheating. This is an interim report on the corrective action implementation schedule.

Corrective action, as stated in our last report (TXX-88070), and as irdicated in our Electrical Project Status Report (TXX-88097, dated January 15, 1988),

involved the installation of permanent fans or other cooling devices to service Battery Chargers BCIEDl-1 and BCIE01-2. Subsequent to our last report, however, the battery charger vendor's site representative has also completed an evaluation of the chargers and indicated that no overheating problem was evident and recommended against installing cooling fans (due to dirt accumulation / fan failure problems). Based on the vendor's recommendation, our proposed modification to the chargers has been placed on hold until further testing can be completed.

Our evaluation of this deficiency with the vendor is still in progress and is not sufficiently developed to allow setting of a completion schedule for corrective actions at this time, in light of the vendor's evaluation, we are also re-evaluating our reportability conclusion for this issue.
