NRC INSPECTION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY SHIPMENT
Dear Mr. Huizenga:
This refers to the inspection of the Physical Protection of a Shipment of Irradiated Fuel conducted by the NRC on July 21-23. 1998.
The areas examined during the inspection were the safety and security measures afforded the Department of Energy's shipment of foreign research reactor spent fuel originating in the Republic of Korea and terminating at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory. The inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interview with personnel, and observation by the inspectors.
Within the scope of the inspection. violations or deviations were not identified.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice." a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
