SUBJECT:
STATUS OF ACCELERATED E0P INSPECTION PROGRAM FOR PERIOD ENDING APRIL 1, 1988 This is the first biweekly status report for the subject program. We anticipate preparing short status reports approximately every two weeks for the duration of the effort.

An inspection plan was developed by Region II staff with input from all Team Leaders and approved by all of the involved Branch Chiefs at a meeting on March 5, 1988.
A human factors protocol and interview guide were developed by NRR j
for use by all teams.
Revised schedules have been established for all 16 plants (enclosed).
During the week of March 21, the two teams scheduled to inspect starting the week of March 28 met in the Team Leader's headquarters for preparatory work.
A draft TI was forwarded to ILRB on March 15, 1988.
A conference call among Branch Chief and Team Leaders was held March 24 to assure all was ready prior to first inspections.,
Contracts were let to PNL and SAIC to provide four human factors

e Jack W. Roe APR 0 51988 Inspections at Wolf Creek and Crystal River began March 28.
Preliminary feedback from the team leaders indicates that, while several discrepancies have been found with the E0P's, at neither plant were they so serious as to constitute a severe problem.
Plans for next two weeks Exits will be at Wolf Creek on April 6 and at Crystal River on April 7 and 8.
hRR, the host region and Team Leaders region will be represented at the Branch Chief level.
Finalization of TI.
Letter of comrtendation to TTC.
Inspections at Grand Gulf and St. Lucie to begin April 10.
Problems Requests for lap top computers for NRR staff to use on inspections have not been filled.
RSB cannot support all 16 inspections due to other high priority activities. Reactor system specialists are needed either from other NRR units or through contract.
