To discuss NRC licensing of dry spent fuel storage (See enclosure 1).
DISCUSSION:
Dr. Saegusa outlined CRIEPI's interest in dry spent fuel storage. CRIEPI is conducting research and development on spent fuel storage under contract to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) of the Japanese Government. MITI is the competent authority in Japan for at-reactor spent fuel storage licensing (see enclosure 2). He also supplied the agenda for a recent ductile cast iron cask drop test (see enclosure 3) and related documents (see enclosures 4, 5 and 6). We proceeded to CRIEPI's questions on spent fuel storage (see enclosure 1).
I gave CRIEPI copies of serier 3 Regulatory Guides and paper,s related to spent fuel storage and copies of 10 CFR Part 72.
