Main Control Board Upgrades - DCRDR Gentlemen:

In Reference (b), we provided you our schedule for upgrading the Main Control Board (kCB) based, in part, on the results of the Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR) required by NUREG-0737, Supplement 1.

During the 1985 refueling outage, major modifications were made to Sections B and C of the FCB which resulted in the elimination of over 200 human engineering deficiencies (HEDs) identified as a result of the detailed control room design review.

In order to allow sufficient time to thoroughly review the design of all planned modifications to ensure ro unintended system (s) interaction is introduced, we find it necessary to make a schedular change to complete the Jg remaining HED resolutions. Accordingly, we plan to:

Resolve the few remaining HEDs pertaining to Sections B and C of the jQ FCB, and upgrade one-half of Section A of the FCB and the majority of the Electric Board during the 1987 refueling outaae.

Complete the remaining improvements to Section A of the FCB and the

,0 Electric Board and review the annunciator system during the 1988 8<

refueling outage.
