Suite 2900 Atlanta, GA 30323 Gentlemen:
During a routine survey of a truck that delivered radioactive material to the Naval Nuclear Fuel Division Research Laboratory, an elevated reading in the cab of the transport vehicle of 2.3 mR/hr was detected.
The elevated reading was found on the passenger side of the cab.
There was no passenger during the shipment.
The shipper was Duke Power Company, Oconee Nuclear Station, Unit No. 2.
The snipment was received on March 8, 1988.
It was unclear that a report of this was required by the regulations because only in Title 49 is the cab reading required and no reporting requirement is specified.
However, Mr. Troup of your office recom-mended that the information be sent to you.
I notified Duke Power Company of this atter.
