eer your request of Octoher 31, 1980, on the proposed ietter of Cheirmen Ahearne to Congressman Thomas Ashley commenting on H.R. 8119, we would suggest the following language in lieu of the final sentence in the second i
paragraph:
To avoid potential confusion, the Commission recomends that the phrase "high-level radioactive waste" be replaced by the phrase " wastes of greater radiological hazard than the Environmental Protection Agency will pennit to be disposed of by ocean disposal."
The above suggested change would place criteria setting with the agency 2
.that has statutory authority over ocean disposal.
