Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit No.1; Docket No. 50-317 Main Vent Wide Ranne Noble Gas Effluent Monitor Gentlemen:
On June 28, 1988, the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 Main Vent Wide Range-Noble Gas Effluent Monitor (WRNGM) was declared inoperable. The WRNGM was returned to service July 7,1988.
As required by Action Statement 3.3.lb, the preplanned alternate method of monitoring was initiated within 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> consistent with Technical Specifications and the Calvert Cliffs Emergency Response Plan implementation Procedure (ERPIP) No. 4.4.3/ Revision 10, "Initial Determination of Accident Radioactivity Release Rates."
The action required by 3.3. l b, if the system operability cannot be restored in seven days, is fulfilled by submitting this Special Report to the Commission pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.2.
The cause of the inoperability was determined to be a restriction in the mid/high range sample discharge line. It was cleared and the system was declared operable and returned to service July 7,1988.
