Ch April 6,1988 I met with senior nanagers of Philadelphia Electric Cartpany l

(PECD) arsj msnbers of the E staff. The following indivicbals were present:

)l C. NcNelli, Jr., Executive Vice President - Wclear, f4 ICD V. Stallo, Jr., Executive Director for Operations, W J. Taylor, Acting Deputy Executive Director for Operations, K J. Wrray, Deputy Director, Of fic. of the General Comsel, E B. Clayton, Regional Cooroinator, Of fice of Deputy Executive Directra for Regional Operat!ons, E 1he meeting ves requested by PECD. The purpose of the meeting was to intro-cine W. Paquette who ves recently selected as President and Chief Executive Of ficer. Mr. Paquette and Mr. McNeill stressed that there ves a new trsnage-nont team in place at PECD and that the nanagement and the board were determined to restart and operate Peach Bottun safely and to work cooperative-ly with E to attain high quality safety perfornance. *lhey stated that they anticipated being ready to restart Unit 2 in early Novenber and that the treintenance backlog was the determining factor in the projection. They discussed plans for strengthening the ensite engineering staff, changing the CA/QC organization, and Inproving treintenance (e.g., better training) over the i

next co@le of years. They are actively working to inprove relations with the i

local ccrmunities, the Comwwealth of Pemsylvania and the State of Maryland.

I told them that when E decides that Peach Bottcrn can be allowed to restart we vent to see a flawless startup.

I also informed them that we veuld e q ect to brief the Comnission twice on Peach Bottczn - a status briefing about Jme or July and a second briefing when we and PECD feel that the p' ant is ready to restert.

No regulatory decisions were requested or node durirg this meeting.
