POTW Guidance Document EPA plans to place the guidance on EPA's home page so it will be available over the Internet.

The Water Environment Federation (WEF) radiation task force plans to present comments on the guidance document to NRC and EPA at their next meeting on August 4.

The subcommittee discussed a dose modeling position paper on the issues associated with dose modeling (scenarios, pathways, risk levels dose limits.

methodology and survey results).

Tony Huffert was tentatively assigned the task cf drafting the position paper, which will be preserted at the September ISCORS meeting.

Chris Daily and Loren Setlow will develop a set of scenarios for discussion at the next subcommittee meeting.

Jim Bachmaier will review the Food and Drug Administration draft guidance entitled " Accidental Radioactive Contamination of Human Food and Animal Feeds:

Recommendations for State and Local Agencies" (May 22. 1997 Federal Register) to see if it is applicable to modeling sewage scenarios.

The subcommittee is considering the following actions related to the guidance document, because dose modeling has become a long-term effort.

This fall.

comments from industry would be incorporated into the guidance.

In late 1997.

the guidance would be published as an interim version, without a table of acceptable concentrations. but with a table of typical concentrations which would be developed from the AMSA survey results.

This approach will be presented at the September ISCORS meeting.

The next subcommittee meeting will be held August 21 at NRC (Room 0-681 i from 4
