DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 TUBE STEEL MANUFACTURING DEFECTS SDAR: CP-88-28 (INTERIM PEPORT)
Gentlemen:
On March 14, 1988, we verbally notified your Mr. R. F. Warnick of a deficiency involving tube steel manufacturing defects. Our latest report on this issue,

logged TXX-88393, was submitted April 13, 1988.
Based on the'investigatioi conducted to date, the extent of tube steel internal radius cracking is limited to seven coils (one production run by the tube steel manufacturer).
In addition, Nonconformance reports have been issued for split seam welds on tube steel in the service water pipe tunnel.
We are continuing our evaluation of the im)act of this issue upon the safety of plant operations.
Our next report on t1is issue will be submitted no later than September 14, 1988.
