BROWNS FEhRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) - RESCHEDULING OF 10 CFR 50, APPENDIX R AUDIT As discussed during the teleconference with members of your staff on July 13, 1988, BFN management has requested that the August 8, 1988, Appendix R audit be rescheduled for no earlier than October 3, 1988.
This new schedule will allow BFN the needed time to complete most of the physical work. Certain modifications to the plant were identified by the NRC staff for completion before the audit. These modifications require additional l
time for the completion of new work which has been identifled during the system design or operational procedure development process.
It is also BFN's plan to impler.ent lessons learned from the Sequoyah Nuclear
[
Plant (SQN) audits. With the SON unit 1 audit just two weeks before the BFN audit, time would be short to effectively implement SQN findings at BFN before the August 8, 1988 date.

Finally, BFN management intends to complete its own internal verification of j
tt.e Appendix R program and its effectiveness. This evaluation will provide BFN with confidence that the program is complete and ready for the NRC audit.
