Operating License No. OPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 Auxiliary and Fuel Handling Buildings Quarterly Decontamination Schedule In response to the NRC Letter dated May 7,1984, the following is the status of Auxiliary and Fuel Handling Buildings Decontamination for the First Quarter of 1988. This update addresses only those areas where Technical Specification surveillances were not being performed due to ALARA considerations.
Seal Injection Cubicle (AX004)
ALARA exemption is currently being taken for Technical Specification Surveillance 4210-SUR-3244.01 (4301-M8), "Containment Integrity Verification." General area dose rates in the cubicle proper range from 50 mR/hr - 800 rrfi/hr with readings as high as 4 R/hr at a distance of one fo0t from one corner of the cubicle.
The heavily encrusted floor area has been scabbled.
Scaffolding and debris removal are completed and follow-up scabbling is also completed.
In addition, a concrete shield slab was poured on the cubicle floor during the First Quarter of 1988. Floor slope correction will continue into the Second Quarter of 1988. The application of grout may eliminate the locked high radiation status of this cubicle. Surface decontamination of the cubicle is scheduled for the Second Quarter of 1988.
