proposed design change to the Fermi-2 MSIV circuitry. A Division of Reactor

Safety inspector is scheduled to conduct an on-site inspection in mid MayL, 1988, to determine the adequacy and st;tus of the modification that would ensure that the MSIV closure fsy tion has an adequate seal-in feature such that the valve will not reopen vhthout deliberate operator action.
We believe that the scheduling of this followup inspection is consistent with f,
the significance of the issue as docunen'ed in Region III Division of Reactor
~
Safety inspection report 50-341/87036; that iscwe feel that the circuitry is adequate from a safety standpoint, but agree wd t,he OSTI finding that it has the potential to cause operational problems under certain conditions.
