SUBJECT:
NOMINATION FOR CASH AWARD - MIKE PARKER I recomend Mike Parker'for a Cash Award in accordance with NRC Chapter 4150.
Mr. Parker's inspection of the startup test program dering the past year has been. instrumental in assessing the adequacy of the corrective action programs at the Fermi site. He was active in pursuing with the Region and NRR the licensee's weak points and what corrective actions were required to allow the plant to continue the startup test program.
Mr. Parker has been very effective in interfacing with local Public Officials. He has kept them informed of actions being taken by the NRC and the licensee to resolve their concerns.
During Mr. Parker's review of licensee's actions, he has identified and/or resolved a number of significant problems including;
- Improper Valve Verification
- Thermal Recombiner Failures
- Improper HPCI Valve Alignment The lessons learned at Fermi were instrumental in correcting these problems at other Region III NT0L plants before plant operation was started.
Mr. Parker was deeply involved in the regulatory assessments at the Fermi plant. He willingly spent extra hours to investigate plant problems and to isssure that adequate correctiva actions were taken prior to plant restart.
