i FASTENER TESTING TO DETERMINE CONFORMANCE HITH APPLICABLE MATERIAL SPECIFICATION Boston Edison responded to NRC Bulletin 87-02 by letter of January 11, 1988.
This letter responds to Supplement I and 2 to Bulletin 87-02 issued on April 22, 1988 and June 10, 1988.
These Supplements raquested a list of suppliers and manufacturers from which safety and non-safety related fasteners were purchased. describes our method of assembling the data.
Attachments 2 and 3 provide names and addresses for vendors from which fasteners were purchased for use at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station for the past 10 years.

ATTACHMENT 1: Methodolqqy To prepare this response Boston Edison began by reviewing a computer listing of pertinent data on Purchase Orders (P.O.s).
This list was created by "asking" l
the computer to list P.O. entries containing the "keyword" of fastener, bolt, nut, screw, threaded fastener or washer.
The first review screened out entries which obviously did not fall within the Supplement's purview, for example "glass screw caps", or vendors for which no activity took place af ter 1977.
An initial list of vendors was then prepared and an initial categorization of vendors into safety and non-safety categories was made using the printout as the initial informati:,n source.
Where a vendor could not be clearly categorized, microfilm of the PO was reviewed to determine the proper category.
Some vendors provided both categories of fastener, in which case we reported them in the safety-related list.
l Although Supplement 2 requested non-safety fastener vendor information for a 5 l
year period, our response to both categories covers the 10 year period from January 1978 to December 1987.
