Dear Mr. Shafer:
This letter is an addendum to my earlier letter dated December 22, 1987 and is based upon the telephone conversation that I had with Mr.
Robert Gregory of your office on January 27. 1988.
We have agreed to make certain additions and changes to our SOP 600.
Laboratory Rules.
(Please see the attached.)
To be specific we have clarified the purpose, added wording about the Frisker station. indi-cated that eating, drinking and smoking will be prohibited in the reactor bay and counting rooms, and added a section about using the portal monitor and its periodic testing.
In accordance with Mr. Gregory's suggestion we plan to post those areas or rooms where eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited and j
those areas where they are permitted.

In the future we will clearly mark the non-controlled copies of the SOP's as "Not a contro} led copy".
In conclusion. we still believe that the Level 4 citation is too stringent for the nature of the violation and hope that it will either be dismissed or diminished to Level 5.
