SUBJECT:
SCIENTIFICINVESTIGATIONPLANSRECEIVEDASPARTOF AUDIT DOCUMENTS As you know, the Division of High-Level Waste Management (HLWM) staff has been participating as observers on Department of Energy (DOE) audits of its contractors.
In its role as observers, each HLWM staff member receives a copy of the information that is used on the audit.
In many cases, the documentation will contain copies of scientific investigation plans (SIPS). Although the SIPS need to be understood by the HLWM staff to perform its role as an observer, they should not be treated as official submittals from 00E.
Therefore, no review effort should be expended on the SIPS once the audit is complete.
Please ensure that your staff is aware of this and implements it accordingly.
