Exercise Report for the November 4,1987, Exercise of the Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness Plans for the Brcwns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant Attached is one copy of the Exercise Report for the Novanber 4,1987, full-participation joint exercise of the offsite radiological emergency preparedness plans for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant. 'Ihe Brwns Ferry Ntelear Power Plant is located in Limestone County, Alabama, along the Ten. 2ssee River, approximately 30 miles west of the City of Huntsville. 'Ihe State of Alabama, and Limestone, Iauderdale, Lawrencc, and Morgan Counties, which are located in the 10s. tile oltrne emergency planning zone, participated in the exercise.
'Ita exe. :ise report, dated February 24,1988, was submitted by Pagion IV of the Federal Dnergency Management Agency (FDIA) and includes the coments resulting fran the Regional Assistance Comittee review.
'Ihere were no deficiencies identified as a result of this exercise. 'Ihe report identifies eight areas requiring corrective action in Section III, as well as several areas reccrmended for improvement in Section IV.
FDtA Pegion IV staff will furnish a copy of this exercise report to the State of Alabama and request a schedule of corrective actions.
Pegion IV will assure completion by the State of the necessary corrective actions.
Based on the results of the exerc.ise, the Alabama State and local offsite radiological emergency preparedness is adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of an accident at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Power Plant.
