Vermont Yankee Response to NRC Bulletin No. 88-01: Defects in Westinghouse Circuit Breakers The sub,iect Bulletin (Reference b)) requested that addressees using Westinghouse, Series DS, circuit breakers in Class IE service perform and document inspection of the welds on the pole shafts and inspection of the i
alignment in the breaker closing mechanism.
Further, the Bulletin requested any addressee not having the subject circuit breakers provide a letter to the NRC stating this fact within 60 days of receipt of the Bu11trin. Accordingly, Vermont Yankee's response is provided herein, pur-suant to the provisions of Section 182a of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
Upon receipt of NRC Bulletin No. 88-01, Vermont Yankee initiated a review to determine whether Westinghouse OS-206, OSL-206, DS-416, DSL-416, and DS-420 circuit breakers are used at the plant in Cjass IE applications including RTB's.
This review concluded that no circuit breakers subject to this Bulletin are used in any application at the Vermont Yankee station.
Further, Vermont Yankee is not considering any future use of these circuit.
