Dear Mr. Arthur:

This letter is in regard to the disposal site at Clive, Utah, for the Salt Lake City UMTRA Project. On June 9,1988, the Uranium Recovery Field Office (URFO) conducted an onsite construction inspection at the Clive property. Enclosed with this letter is the report detailing our findings.

Additionally, we noted aspects of the project where problems still remain with the construction. A summary of our concerns is as follows:

Records indicate that radon barrier r.aterial was not placed at RAP moisture specifications.

Frequency of rock gradation testing was not recorded.

Riprap on pile top was rutted.

Riprap on side slopes exhibited fines in several areas.

Armored ditches exhibit uneven placement and may not have adequate thickness.

Issue from previous site review has not been resolved.

We would recommend that these issues be resolved as soon as possible to prevent any program delays or disruptions.
