AEOD ISSUES, 2:00 P.M.,{T MARCH 31, 1988, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, D.C.
OFFICE (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the staff on AEOD (Office of Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data) priority issues ar.d coordination of findings within the NRC.
The Commission requested the staff to focus on the following issues at the next AEOD report to the Commission:
mechanisms for integrating and coordinating AEOD recommen-dations with other NRC offices; illustrations of how AEOD recommendations are followed l
through and how the loop of inter-office coordination is being closed; and how human factor aspects are evaluated and factored into the analyses.

Chairman Zech and Commissioner Carr cautioned the staff not to overlook plants for which complacency might be a problem.
Chairman Zech cautioned AEOD not to set too high of a threshold which elevates an AEOD "suggestion" up to a "recommendation."
Chairman Zech also requested the staff to keep the designers informed of the results of the AEOD studies.
