SUBJECT:

Limerick Generating Station Unit 2 Response to IE Bulletin 86-02:

Static "0" Ring Differential Pressure Switches

REFERENCE:

Letter from S. L. Daltroff (PECo) to T. E. Murley (NRC) entitled "Response to IE BulletIne 86-02, Static "0" Ring Differential Pressure Switches," dated July 25, 1986

Dear Mr. Russell:

The purpose of this letter is to provide the Philadelphia Electric Ccepany (PECo) response to IE Bulletin 86-02 for Limerick Generating Station Unit 2.

The response for Peach Bottcm Atomic Power Stations Units 2 end 3 and Limerick Generating. Station Unit I was provided In Reference 1 above.

The Bulletin discussed the erratic performance of Static "0" Ring Models 102 and 103 differential pressure switches at other operating nuclear power plant units. The concern of the Bulletin is that the switches may be Installed in various safety-related systems and could result in substantial non-conservative setpoint drift of engineered safety systems, f

In response to the concerned raised within IE Bulletin 86-02, a design analysis of Limerick Generating Station Unit 2 was performed.

The study concluded that there are no Static "0" Ring Models 102 and 103 differential pressure switches installed at Unit 2 and there are no future plans of installing these nodel nuTbers.
