This letter provides information relating to TVA's schedule for responding to those items in reference 2 in which NRC needed further information. This request for additional information is for exceptions to RG 1.97, which TVA submitted to NRC in reference 1.

Revisions to the information provided to NRC in reference 1 have become necessary because the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) has made revisions to the generic Emergency. Operability Procedures (EOPs) since the time reference 1 was submitted. These EOPs define the RG 1.97, type A, variable celections.

TVA has revised its type A variable list and is currently in the process of

revising and/or issuing the design basis calculations for postaccident monitoring (PAM). These calculations define the licensing position TVA will fotvard to NRC.

Based on the current schedules for completion of this work, TVA will provide NRC with a response to additional information requested in referencu 2 by October 30, 1988. This responso will also contain justifications for any deviations to RG 1.97 with respect to PAM.
