Dear Mrs. Connor:
This is in response to your letter dated February 11, 1988, in which you appealed Mr. Grimsley's response dated February 1, 1988. Mr. Grimsley's response denied one record subject to your Freedom of Infomation Act (F0IA) request for copies of records on the NRC Senior Management Team.
You specifically appealed the denial of the record identified on Appendix B of Mr. Grimsley's response.
Acting on your appeal, I have carefully reviewed the record in this case and have detemined that some additional information will now be made publicly available.
Your appeal is, therefore, partially granted and partially denied.
The previously denied Appendix A, "Chronological Listing of Significant Events," is now being made publicly available and is enclosed.
The memorandum identified on the enclosed Appendix B will continue to be withheld pursuant to Exemption (5) of the F0IA (5 U.S.C. 552(b)(5) and 10 CFR 9.17(a)(5)) of the Commission's regulations.
This draf t record describes the opinions of the staff.
Exemption (5) was intended to permit the agency's withholding of such records to preserve the free and candid internal dialogue necessary for the careful formulation of agency decisions.
This is a final agency decision. As set forth in the F01A (5 U.S.C.
552(a)(4)(B)), judicial review of this decision is available in a district court of the United States in tne district in which you reside or have your principal place of business ur in the District of Columbia.
