Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant - Units 1 and 2 Replacement of Raychem/ CHICO Seals with NAMCO EC-210 Connectors This letter is in reference to the conference call of April 1, !988 between Alabama Power Company and the HRC Region 11 Staff regarding resolution of Raychem/ CHICO seals currently installed on environmentally qualified NAMCO EA-180 limit switches inside containment. Alabama Power Company committed to upgrade all Unit 1 Raychem/ CHICO seals on environmentally qualified limit switches inside containment by replacement with NAMCO EC-210 connectors before startup from the Unit i eighth refueling outage currently in progress.
Further, Alabama Power Company committed to upgrade all Unit 2 Raychem/ CHICO seals on environmentally qualified limit switches inside containment by replacement with NAMCO EC-210 connectors at the next outage of sufficient duration but no later than startup from the Unit 2 sixth refueling outage currently scheduled to comence in March 1989. The Region 11 Staff stated that these preposed actions and schedules were acceptable for addressing the NRC concerns on the currently installed Raychem/ CHICO seals on NAMC0 EA-180 limit switches inside containment. Attached is a list of the valves inside containment for Units 1 and 2 with environmentally qualified NAMC0 EA-180 limit switches which utilize Raychem/ CHIC 0 seals.
