It has ocne to my attenticn that your agency is prepared to issue f an cperatinJ license to the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant. I am adamantly opposed to this acticn and suggest that if you take this action you will have totally subverted your purpose.

May I ranini you that after hurricane Gloria Governor nvnn was asked whether in his view Lilco's credibility was damaged as a result of the utilities inability to restore power eleven days after the storm replied

Three Mile Island happened. Chernobyl lappened. An amia nt at Shorehar I can happen. Dcn't let it happen. It is within your power to prevent the-operaticn of this plant or at the vary least to insure that if there is an amie tnthat there will be scne chance to evacuate our familios arx1 curselves and to avoid the terrible harm that cculd be our legacy.
