ATTACEMENT On December 10, 1987, an exit meeting for Inspection 87-30 was conducted at the River Bend Station. During this exit meeting;.. the

~

inspector expressed concern rez'rding the retention level of the individuals that he had inte- .

sd in the aret of Emergency Planning responsibilities.

To ensure that we are satisfied that our Shift Supervisors and C0F's have the proper perspective and understanding of their emergency respenae role, the following actions have been or will be taken:

1. Individuals who have not completed the annual retraining in emergency response and the individual who was determined to be weak in his responses will receive this training prior to December 31. 1987. (As of today, only thtee individuals have not completed this retraining.)

. . _ 2. The Emergency Planning Group vill assist the Nuclear

~ ~ ~

Training Group in preparing and conducting additional emergency response training for Shif t Supervisors and C0F's with an emphasis on conceptual level emergency response to be included with the operations requalification training l cycle to be completed during the first quarter of 1988.

~

3. Further Culf States Utilities will obtain the services of a consultant with expertise in emergency response training  !

to review, analyse and advise CSU concerning the adequacy of River Bend Station emergency response training for Shift  ;

Supervisors and C0F's. We anticipate completion of the '

review by the end of the first quarter of 1988.

Based on the assessaint and training conducted since the aforementinned inspection. CSU believes that our Shift Supervisers and C0F's have sufficient training and knowledge level to respond ,

properly to an amargency. Rovaver, we recognize come improvements I can be made as discussed above and are endeavoring to address these l promptly.  !
