Reference (a) transmitted IE Bulletin No. 79-03 regarding welding defects in certain longitudinally wolded pipe spools.
I In accordance with that bulletin, we have reviewed our Dresden, Quad-Cities, and Zion generating stations for the use of similar pipe spools.
A review was made of the design specifications and piping design tables for original con-struction and for modifications.
For all units iri these stations, the smaller piping sizes (generally less than 14 inch nerninal pipe i
size) were ASME SA-312 seamless pipe while the larger sizes were ASME SA-358 electric -fusion-welded pipe.
We conclude from this review that ASME SA-312 stainless steel pipe welded without filler metal is not present in the safety-related systems of units at the Dresden, Quad-Cities, or Zion nuclear pcwer stations.
