Zech, Jr., Chairman Safety & Licensing Board Nuclear Regulatory Commission Matomic Building 1717 H Street, NW Washington, DC 20555 Dear Chairman Zech Please reconsider the recent attempt by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to usurp emergency evacuation planning approval from local and state guvernments.

The Shoreham nuclear power plant should not be granted a license.

As residents living and working in the vicinity of the plant, we are not convinced of the safety of its construction.

We are also appalled by the excess costs largely due to mismanagement that we are being asked to bear. Such mismanagement underscores the probability that the plant has been constructed in a slipshod manner and should not be operated.
