Dear Cong.essman Markey:

! was pleased to read in todoys Newsday that the NRC has proposed a rule change that will resolve the stalemate on the opening of Long Island Lighting Shorehom facility. From where I sit and from what I hear from the overage person with a whom I talk - - it is about time I it is time that the businesses and people on Long Island stop being buffeted by a vocal group of rebel-rousers and naive politicions who oppose Shoreham under the misguided opinion that this is "best for the people on Long Island". These offielots have refuwd to cooperate because they know that under present NRC rules, their tefusal to cooperate is sufficient to keep Shoreham closed.

Shorehom must open - - Shoreham is safe - - Shoreham's generating capacity is the only protection Lcog Island has from becoming hostage to OPEC in the next round of oil overcharges.

. Please suppwt NRC proposed rule chang 3s. Nnk yee, Sincerely, ,
