Inspection No. 99990001/88-01 This letter refers to the Augmented Inspection Team review of the radioactive contaminaticn of your Easton, Pennsylvania facility, which was caused by leakage of polonium-210 from static eliminating devices used at that facility.

This inspection was led by Mr. J. R, White of this of fice from January 22, 1988 to February 1,1988.

The inspection addressed activities authorized by the NRC general license provided under 10 CFR 31.5.

The scope and findings of the inspection were discussed during a telephone conversation on February 29, 1988 between yourself and Mr. White.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspec-tion Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspec-tion consisted of interviews with personnel, observations and examinations of plant equipment, and selective examinations of procedures, representative records, and design documents by the inspectors. Additionally, measurements were made by NRC inspectors and contractors to confirm certain licensee generated data.

No violations of regulatory requirerr.ents were identified during the inspection.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room unless you notify this office, by telephone, within 10 days of the date of this letter, and submit written application to withhold information contained therein within 25 calendar days from the date of the transmittal letter.

Such application must be consistent with the requirements of 10 CFR 2.790(b)(1).

If we do not hear from you in this regard within the specified periods noted above, the report will be made available to the public and placed in the Public Document Room.

The telephone notification of your intent to request an extension of the 10-day period which you believe necessary should be made to the Chief, Office Services Section, USNRC Region I, at (215) 337-5223.
