20555 PLANT HATCH - UNITS 1, 2 NRC 00CKETS 50-321, 50-366 OPERATING LICENSES DPR-57, NPF-5 RE00EST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - GENERIC LETTER 83-28 Gentlemen:
By lotter dated May 6, 1988, the NRC requested additional information related to Georgia Power Company's (GPC) response to Generic letter 83-28.
The information requested was primarily related to:
o Updating the Equipment Location Index (ELI) by using System Evaluation Documents (SEDs).
o The methodology used to assure that safety-related components are properly identified as such on plant documentation and in information-handling systems.
o Controls that are in place to assure that Plant Hatch Unit I and Unit 2 are developed, maintained, and validated consistently.
The SEDs were originally intended to be the single source safety design basis document for each of the safety systerns.
The document would contain the functional requirements for the system, adequate information to assess the safety classifications of system components and special requirements related to system components (Environmental Qualifications, and Appendix R for example). As the SEDs evolved it became doubtful that the SEDs, in their present form, would adequately aadress all of the above requirements.
Accordingly, approximately one year ago, the SEDs were indefinitely delayed.
