Dear Mr. Harris:

This is in response to your. letter requesting information on the transportation of radioactive materials in Minnesota, Enclosed is a table summarizing information on shipments either originated from or destined to Minnesota. The information was extracted fr6m data collected by Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories for NRC in 1975.

The table gives, for each radionuclide and each transportation mode, the number.of packages,. transport index,. activity or quantity shipped in 1975, and the maximum activity or quantity 1

in a single package. To avoid an unwieldy list, radionuclides with less than 1000 packages and 1000 curies (or grams);in the year were combined into."other".

Please note that radionuclide entries such as "U235H" are symbols ior various percent enrichment of uranium in the isotope Uranium-235. U235H denotes 2.5% and 'J235T denotes 80%

enrichment.

Please centact me or Dr, Anthony Tse (301/443-5946) if you have any question:,.

Sincerely, t

Robe t'F. Barker, Chief, Tra s rtation and Product l
