Notice of Proposed Meetings In order to provide advance information regarding proposed meetings of the ACRS Subcommittees and Working Groups, and of the full Committee, the following preliminary schedule reflects the current situation, taking into account additional meetings which have been scheduled and meetings which have been postponed or Jncelled since the last list of proposed meetings publiched July 17,1978 (43 FR 30630). Those meetings which are definitely scheduled have had, or will have, an individual notice published in the Federal Register approximately 15 days (or more) prior to the nieeting. Those Subetnittee and Working Group meetings for which it is anticipated that there will be a portion or all of the meeting open to the public are indicated by an asterisk (*).

It is expected that the sessions of the full Committee meeting designated by an asterisk (*) will be open in whole or in part to the public. ACRS full Commit-1 tee meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. and Subcommittee and Working Group meetings usually begin at 8:30 a.m.

The exact time when items listed on the agenda will be discussed during full Committee meetings and when Subcommittee and Working Group meetings will start will be published approximately 15 days prior to each meeting.

Information as to whether a meeting has been firmly scheduled, cancelled, or rescheduled, or whether changes have been made in the agenda for the September 1978 ACRS full Committee meeting can be obtained by a prepaid telephone call to the Office of the Executive Director of the Committee (telephone 202/634-3267, AITN: Mary E. 'ihe Subcommittee will discuss the Relap 4 and 5 codes, their application to PARS, IMRs, and IMR/UHI Systems as well as the BEACON Code and Advanced Containment Codes for B'dRs.

  • Reactor Fuels, August 17-18, 1978, Idaho Falls, ID.

'Ihe Subcommittee will gather information on reactor fuel research conducted at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (INEL) for consideration by the ACRS in its prepara-tion of a report to Congress on NRC research. Notice of this meeting was published on June 16, July 17 and August 2, 1978 (43 FR 26162, 30631 and 33968, respectively).

  • Reliability and Probabilistic Assessment, August 25, 1978, Washington, DC.

The Subcommittee wil'1 review the NRC Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research programs in risk assessment. Notice of this meeting was published on August 10,1978 (43 FR 3556I).

'Ihe Subcommittee will meet to discuss the status of a variety of programs related to ECCS-LOCA research programs.

  • Metal Components, September 11-12, 1978, Washington, DC. We Subcomittee will review the NRC Research Prcgram in this area.

  • General Electric Test Reactor (GEIR), September 15-16, 1978, San Francisco, CA. Se Subcomittee will review matters related to the seismicity of the GETR site and the structural design of the GETR plant.
  • Advanced Reactors, September 25, 1978, Washington, DC. Reference item for September 12-13, above.

  • Safeguards and Security, September 26, 1978, Washington, DC.

The Subcomit-tee will review the NRC Research Program in this area. Notice of this meet-ing was published on July 17,1978 (43 FR 30631).

The Subcommittee will review working papers and future regulatory guides; also, it will discuss pertinent activities which affect the current licensing process and/or reactor operations.

  • Fluid Dynamics, October 23-24-25, 1978, San Francisco, CA. (Rescheduled from August 29-30, Ios Angeles, CA.) The Subcommittee will meet with representa-tives of the NRC to discuss methods used in licensing for calculating contain-ment system response by the NRC Staff and the nuclear industry. Containment leak testing will also be discussed.

In addition, the Subcommittee will review the design basis and construction of the Mark II Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) Containment System. Notice of this meeting (scheduled for August 29-30 in Los Angeles, CA) was published on June 16 and July 17, 1978 (43 FR 26162 and 30631, respectively).

  • Memoers of the ACRS will meet with members of the French Groupe Permanent to discuss various matters related to reactor safety including reactor safety research, emergency core cooling, reliability of auxiliary systems, use of probabilistic analysis, and consideration of systems interaction in nuclear plant design and arrangement.
